＊historically は、英語では､＜歴史学的に、歴史上＞、＜従来に比べると＞の意味を区別していますので、日本語訳する際にはご注意下さい。＜有史の記録の中で代表となる、突出している＞の意味の場合、即ち本当に歴史に関すること、その視点で語っている内容であれば＜歴史的に＞でＯＫです。

＊no one else but he 彼以外の誰も〜ない、の but he が略されていると考えます。

I only asked him for a cigarette, but two hours later  he'd  told  me his whole life history.

　私は単に彼にタバコ１本求めただけだったが、その２時間後には彼は私に自分史を丸ごと語り終えて居たのだった。

→I only asked him for a cigarette, but he kept talking  me 　his 　whole life history for as long as two hours.

　私は単に彼にタバコ１本求めただけだったが、彼は私に２時間もの間自分史を丸ごと語り続けたのだった。

＊単に for two hours でも良いですが、as long as ＋時間、で、〜もの長きに亘り、の意味を加えます。as long as は接続詞用法として　if  もし〜なら、〜の限りは、の意味でも多用されます。

　この工場では長年の労働争議の来歴（歴史）がある。

The company has had a history of difficult management-union  relations.

　その会社は困難な組合関連管理の来歴を抱えてきている。

→その会社は組合との関係に管理困難な問題を抱えてきている。

He has a good credit history (= a good record of payingmoney  that  he owes).

　彼はクレジットカードの良い履歴（借りた金を返済したとの良い記録）がある。

When a person applies for a bank account or credit  card,their  credit history can be tracked.

　或る者が銀行口座やクレジットカードを作ろうと申請する時には、当人の与信履歴が追跡され得ます。
