These words all refer to a way that someone or  something  is  not  the same as other people or things around them.

　ここに扱う言葉はすべて、誰かや何かが他の人や周りのものと同じではないこと、またその状態にあることを指します。

1. a difference between two similar things:

　２つの似たもの同士の間の違い、区別

＊distinction とは、一見似ているように見えるものの間の違いを意味します。

＊まぁ、似て非なるものの間の違い、です。

＊difference が、事物や事象間の単なる違いを意味しますが、それとは異なっています。

There's a clear distinction between the dialects  spoken  in  the  two regions.

1. (NOTICEABLE)

clearly noticeable; not to be ignored; that  certainly  exists:

＊この意味の時は名詞の前にも be 動詞の後ろにも置けます。
