Obedient

　従順な

doing what they are told to do.　他人から言われたことを実行する

= submissive, yielding, compliant, under control   従順な、従順な、従順な、制御下にある

He was very respectful at home and obedient  to  his parents.

　彼は家では非常に礼儀正しく、両親に従順でした。

What a sweet, obedient little girl she was in  the  sixth  grade.

　小学六年生の時には、彼女はなんて愛らしく素直な女の子だったことでしょう。

We’re absolutely obedient to the superior.

Our obedient dog lay motionless as we stood  and  watched  the trio work the currents of the river.

　私たちが三人が川の流れを操る様子を見守っている時に、犬は言いつけ通りに動かずに横たわっていた。

＊we watched the trio work  これはSVOC 文型ですね。

＊obedient dog 　元々のイヌの性質を記述するとも言えますが、現在の状況として訳すと自然な和訳になります。

cf. My poor son started crying. かわいそうな私の息子は泣き出した。（不自然な日本語）

→私の息子は可哀想なことに泣き出した。My son  started  crying, poor thing.

＊日本語には無い英語の発想ですね。

They were physically tough and exquisitely beautiful,  but  also intelligent and as obedient as dogs.

＊竹に木を接いだような、分詞羅列の悪文ですね。この手の、分詞利用で後ろにダラダラと安易に付け加える悪文は非常に多いです。

Honest

1. （人、組織が）正直な、誠実な

always telling the truth, and do not try to deceive  people  or  break the law.

= trustworthy, decent, upright, reliable  信頼できる、まともな、正直な、頼りになる

My dad was the most honest man I ever met.

Fearless

　恐れを知らない

She is a fearless leader defined by her grace  and  wisdom.

　彼女は優雅さと知恵で描写される、恐れを知らない指導者だ。

Generous

= sympathetic, kindly, understanding, tender  思いやりのある、親切な、理解のある、優しい

cf. considerate = paying attention to the needs,  wishes,  or  feelings of other people, thoughtful, kind 　人に配慮する

He was a strong but compassionate leader, which is why he was well liked.

　彼は強靭でありながら思いやりのある指導者だったため、人々に好かれていた。

My father was a deeply compassionate man.

　私の父は深い同情心のある人でした。

Among current pressing issues are questions about  who  is  eligible for a compassionate release from prison.
