must を用いた例文

纏めを兼ねて must を用いた文例をじっくり見ていきましょう。和訳のコツも掴んで下さい。

deduction

推論　〜に違い無い

There must be an increased availability and  access  to  drug  treatment  that is sensitive to pregnant and post-partum women in an urban society.

　都会社会に生きる妊娠中並びに産後の女性に影響を与える薬物療法に対して、増大する入手性と接近性が存在するに違い無い。

→妊娠中並びに産後の女性に危険な薬物が、都会ではより入手性と接近性を高めているに違い無い。

以下の様に脳内変換します：

＊There must be an increased availability and  access  to  drug  treatment...

→Availability and access to drug treatment  must  be  increasing ...

　増大する〜が存在する

→　〜が増大している

義務　〜せねばならない

The stretching of these variables is restricted,  however,  by  the  condition  that both terms in the equation of continuity must remain of the  same order of magnitude.

　しかしながら、連続性の等式に於いて２つの用語共に同じ規模のオーダーを維持せねばならないとの条件によって、これらの変数の拡張は制約を受けている。

　（一応和訳出来ますが塾長には意味不明な内容です）

prohibition

禁止　〜してはならない

＊禁止 mustn't の例文が一番多いですね。

One mustn't think it's a miracle.

（人は）それを奇跡と考えてはならない。

→誰もそれを奇跡と考えてはならない。

The top of the cooker mustn't look dirty,  whatever  happens.

　何が起ころうとも炊事道具（cf. a rice cooker で炊飯器の意）のてっぺんは汚く見えてはならない。

If they have not got any amusements up in  their  backwoods,  we  mustn't  have none.

　もし彼らが彼らの僻地の果てまでに娯楽を何も持って居ないのであれば、我々は１つも持ってはならない。（文末にeither が略されている）

In fact, one mustn't do it, not like that; one  couldn't  go  on.

　実際のところ、人はそれを、その様なことを行ってはならない。それを継続することは不可能だろう。

* ここでは just because = just even because  譲歩用法です。単に〜だからと言う理由で。頻用される表現です。

　技術をそれ自体の為またその経済的な潜在性ゆえに是認するのではなく、その行き着く先が何であるのかを我々は問わねばならない。

＊must + (not A but B)　、Ａ ではなく Ｂ せねばならない、と解釈します。

＊but (we must) ask と考えないと意味が通りませんね。

to make a public statement of your approval  or  support  for  something  or someone:

　何か或いは誰かを是認したり支持する事を公に述べる、是認、支持を表明する

The Council is expected to endorse  the  committee's  recommendations.

　議会はその委員会の推薦を是認するよう期待されている。

formal

I fully endorse (= agree with) everything the  Chairperson  has  said.

　私は議長が言った全てを全面的に支持します（同意します）。

You mustn't confuse the problem with the  way  in  which  the  problem will be resolved.

　その問題がこの先解決されるだろう遣り方とその問題自体とを君は混同してはならない。

to mix up two separate things or people in  your  mind,  imagining  that they are one:

You're confusing me with my sister - she's  the  singer.

It's easy to confuse his films, because he  tends  to  use  the  same  actors.

　彼の映画作品を混同するのは易しい。と言うのは彼は同じ役者を使いがちだからだ。

to solve or end a problem or difficulty:　　solve とほぼ同じ意味の動詞です。

The couple resolved their differences and  made  an  effort  to get along.

　その恋人同士は違いを解決し仲良く遣っていく努力をした。

You mustn't allow enough time for the mind  to  think  of  an  alternative.

　精神的に代替えを検討する時間的余裕は君には許されてない。

to make it possible for something to be done  or  to  happen:

　何かが行われる或いは起きるのを可能にさせる

allow  time  to  do  〜する時間的余裕が有る

allow  room  for 〜 〜の為の空間的余裕、余地がある

The bank loan has greatly strengthened our  financial  position.

　この銀行借入により、当社の財務体質は大きく強化されました。

The organization's aim is to strengthen the  cultural  ties  between  Britain and Germany.

　その機構の目的は英国とドイツの間の文化的な結びつきを強化することです。

The rise in US interest rates caused the dollar  to  strengthen  (=  increase  in value) against all the Asian currencies.

　米国利率の上昇は米ドルを全アジアの通貨に対して強化させた（価値を高めさせた）。

I mustn't prejudice my relationship with my minister  beyond  refusing  to accept a ban on internal discussions within the department.

= I mustn't prejudice my relationship with my  minister  more  than refusing to accept a ban on internal discussions within the department.

　その部門内部での議論禁止に対する拒絶をする以上に、私は自分の大臣との関係に先入観を持つ積もりは無い。

=  I refused to accept a ban on internal  discussions  within  the  department. And beyond that, I'm not intending to prejudice my relationship  with  my  minister.

私は部内議論の禁止について拒否した。それを超えては、大臣との関係に偏見を持つつもりもない。

＊では、それを超えない範囲では私はその大臣に偏見、先入観を抱いていた、との主張になります。どうも論理のおかしな文章です。

→　I have rejected the prohibition on  intra-departmental  discussions.  Beyond that, I have no intention of worsening my relationship with theminister.

　私は部内議論の禁止について拒否した。それを超えて、大臣との関係を悪化させるつもりもない。

（私は部内議論の禁止に関しては大臣との意見の対立はあったが、それを超えてこの先の大臣との関係に影響はさせないつもりだ）

或いは

I have rejected the prohibition on  intra-departmental  discussions.  That said, I do not intend to look at the minister with prejudice in the future.

　私は部内議論の禁止について拒否した。だからと言ってこの先私はその大臣を色眼鏡で見るつもりもない。

= Although I have rejected the prohibition  on  intra-departmental  discussions,  I do not intend to look at the minister with prejudice in the future.

　部内協議の禁止は却下しましたが、今後、その大臣を偏見で見るつもりはありません。

これなら意味が通ります。

＊beyond と　prejudice の組み合わせがマズかった、と言うオチになりそうです。この種の、細部を突き詰めていくと論理のおかしな英文は良く見ます。推敲の足りない英文ですね。最初から明確な英文で記述すれば済む話です。

＊not do A beyond do B  Ｂを超えてＡしない　→ B したが、だからと言ってこの先Ａ はしない、と＜公式化＞出来るのかは今のところ不明です。そもそもbeyond doing の例文が見付かりません。

＊〜を超えては〜してはならない、との自身に対する禁止表現ですので、自戒の意味を込めて〜以上はする積もりは無い、との意志表明と解釈すべきです。

＊前後の流れ context が不明ですので何を主張したいのか単独の文では良く理解出来ない例文です。首相が自分に対して意見を具申した内閣の大臣に対する扱いについて述べているのでしょうか？
