Supportive

　支援する、協力的な

If you are supportive, you are kind  and  helpful  tosomeone at a difficult or unhappy time in their life.

　支援的であるとは、誰かが困難や不幸な状況にある時に親切に助けになることを意味する。

= helpful, caring, encouraging,  understanding  親切な、思いやりのある、励ます、理解を示す

He was strongly supportive of my  career.

　彼は私のキャリアを強く支援してくれた。

Timid

Timid people are shy, nervous, and have no  courage  or  confidence in themselves.

He was timid and shy.

Brave

　勇敢な

Someone who is brave is willing to do  things  which  are  dangerous, and does not show fear in difficult or dangerous situations.

courageous, daring, bold, heroic   courageous,  daring, bold, heroic

She was very brave to learn to ski  at  fifty.

Intellectual

Intellectual means involving a person's  ability  to  think and to understand ideas and information.

　知的とは、人の思考力や概念・情報の理解力に関わることを意味する。

= mental, cognitive, cerebral  

They were very intellectual and  witty.

　彼らは非常に知的で機知に富んでいた。

He was an intellectual, scholarly  man.

High levels of lead could damage  the  intellectual  development of children.
